Local Land Use
Immigration is a complex and often controversial issue, and people may have different views on it depending on their personal experiences, cultural and political beliefs, and other factors. I married an undocumented immigrant so my perspective on the issue has been shaped by that event. Some people may be pro-immigrant, supporting policies that allow for more immigration or that are favorable to immigrants. Others may be opposed to immigration, and believe that the number of immigrants should be limited or that immigration policies should be more stringent. Regardless of which side of the issue, discussions should be conducted without the use of hateful rhetoric.
In 2008, Prince William County, Virginia was at the forefront of the issue when local anti-immigrant groups tried to push through draconian measures allowing police to ask for immigration status without probable cause.
